Director, Planning and Development

As Director of Planning and Development, Jim provides strategic advice and leadership on initiatives that increase port capacity and influence how we are planning to accommodate growth, as well as overseeing land use planning, transportation planning, and the permitting processes for Port tenants and others seeking development opportunities within the Port.
Jim has held this position since 2011. His previous position was Director of Real Estate, awarded in 2005 after the completion of his MBA from Simon Fraser University. Jim was the first Urban Planner hired by the Port in 1991. Subsequent positions include Manager of Planning in 1993, and Director of Planning in 2000.
Jim obtained his BA in Urban and Regional Planning from Ryerson University. He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, the B.C. Institute of Planners, and the Real Estate Institute of B.C.
